Data Center Technician (Mechanical / Fire Systems)

About the Role
CBRE is looking for a Data Center Technician to support operations in a mission-critical data center environment. In this role, you will carry out preventative maintenance and corrective repairs to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of all technical systems.
This position is part of the Critical & Technical Services function, delivering high-quality maintenance services within critical client environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections of mechanical and engineering systems, including servicing and maintenance
- Ensure environmental conditions meet health and safety standards
- Monitor and respond to Building Management System (BMS) alarms and carry out emergency repairs
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment
- Support and troubleshoot issues related to fire protection systems and building systems
- Conduct site walkthroughs and take meter readings (UPS, PDUs, utilities)
- Identify and resolve faults in facility and plant systems
- Work closely with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with procedures and regulations
- Escalate subcontractor performance issues where required
- Follow all safety, regulatory, and quality processes
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and perform routine quality checks
- Complete required training and operate under defined procedures and supervision
- Technical training (apprenticeship or equivalent) with 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Mechanical competence required
- Fire systems competence is essential
- Ability to work shift patterns, including weekends and holidays
- Must meet the physical requirements of the role
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to follow structured procedures and work routines
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong organizational skills with a proactive, inquisitive mindset
- Basic numerical skills (e.g., percentages, simple calculations)
- Work in a fast-growing, high-tech data center environment
