Berg Propulsion is now looking for a Business Manager VPRS to lead and scale the global business area Vessel Performance & Retrofit Solutions (VPRS). This is a unique opportunity to build and develop a strategically important business focused on retrofit solutions, vessel upgrades, and energy efficiency for the global fleet.
In this role, the Business Manager VPRS will combine business development, commercial execution, strategy, and leadership while working closely with regional sales organisations, customers, shipyards, and internal technical teams. ABOUT THE ROLE
As Business Manager VPRS, the role involves driving both the commercial and operational development of Berg Propulsion’s retrofit and vessel performance business. The position combines strategic responsibility with hands-on involvement in customer dialogues, opportunity development, sales activities, and execution.
A key part of the role is to create structure, scalable offerings, and effective ways of working in close collaboration with regional sales organisations driving retrofit and upgrade opportunities globally. The role also includes close collaboration with internal technical teams, external partners, and shipyards to ensure commercially successful and deliverable solutions.
The position requires the ability to balance business growth, customer value, technical feasibility, and delivery capability in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Own and drive the global VPRS strategy, growth plan, and business development activities
Develop and expand retrofit and energy efficiency offerings for vessels
Drive pipeline development, lead qualification, and contract closure together with regional sales teams
Build strong relationships with shipowners, shipyards, and strategic partners
Ensure successful execution and delivery of sold solutions
Build structure, processes, and ways of working to support long-term growth
Build and lead a dedicated VPRS team across business development, sales, and delivery
Contribute to identifying new business opportunities, partnerships, and market segments
Monitor market trends, regulations, and customer needs within retrofit and vessel efficiency
In this role, the Business Manager VPRS will report to the General Manager Europe & Americas. The position is based on Hönö and includes international collaboration and travel.

The ideal candidate thrives in an environment where strategy, business development, sales, and execution are closely connected, and is motivated by building and scaling a business in a growing market.
The role requires a hands-on, structured, and analytical profile with the ability to drive opportunities from idea and customer dialogue through to execution and delivery. Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate across regions, functions, and technical disciplines are essential. The right person is communicative, relationship-oriented, and comfortable leading and engaging technical specialists in a cross-functional environment.
The successful candidate is comfortable operating in a fast-paced and evolving environment, balancing commercial growth with operational delivery and long-term business development. A strong sense of ownership, a solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to create structure while driving execution are key factors for success in the role.
Qualifications:
Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
Experience within ship systems, propulsion systems, or retrofit projects
Experience in technical sales or project development
Strong understanding of vessel operations and shipyard processes
Experience building business cases and driving sales processes
Fluent in Swedish and English, both written and spoken
Meritorious for the role is experience working with retrofit, lifecycle, or energy efficiency solutions, as well as experience from global or matrix organisations. An existing network within the maritime industry, including shipowners, operators, or shipyards, is also considered an advantage.
